Recently K.J. Apa, who plays the lead role as Archie on the hit series Riverdale was in an accident. Apa received only minor injuries, no one else was injured in the incident.

However the issue at hand is one that has been on going in Hollywood. Stories surrounding actors who do long hours and are put in danger from fatigue has led to close calls and in some cases death.

Coincidentally, the crash involving the 20-year-old CW star comes 20 years after assistant cameraman Brent Hershman fell asleep at the wheel while driving home after a 19-hour day on New Line’s Pleasantville — and, like Apa, crashed into a utility pole.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Rosenbaum and former Smallville co-star; Tom Welling, discuss the same issue of long days, driving home fatigued and how the crew had to lobby the network to intervene for fear of Welling dying.
