Although the movie had a huge promotional push, a solid cast AND finished No.1 on its opening weekend, ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ brought in only $31.5M, falling short of its expected $45M.

The film is considered a critical success but word of mouth isn’t moving tickets as quickly as everyone expected and with a budget of $150M to recoup, some are concerned the movie may not get back into the black.

Elsewhere, Idris Elba and Kate Winslet’s ‘The Mountain Between Us’ and animated pic ‘My Little Pony’ open to muted business; ‘It’ crosses $600 million globally.
